About the NRRA
The Authority was established and created for the purpose of sustainably managing Municipal Solid Waste and Recycling materials including, but not limited to, owning and operating one or more waste management facilities and providing for the management and disposal of solid waste and recycables from any municipalities that may choose to become a member of the Authority in accordance with these bylaws, or that enters into a Municipal Service Agreement (“MSA”) with the Authority.
In fulfilling its purpose, the Authority may collaboratively explore, coordinate, and implement solid waste, food waste/organics, and recyling disposal, diversion, and managment, including education and outreach, programs, services, funding opportunities, procurement and related activities in conjunciton with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (“DEEP”) and the Connecticut Coalition for Sustainable Materials Management and other public/private stakeholders.
